On the supply side the production of 200 million pieces of direct mail with programmes sent out to as many as 4.2 million in one hit exposed me to a wide range of services in printing, mailing, data and response handling. I was also lucky enough to lead an international project moving a business with 400 people on to what was leading (close to bleeding) edge technology – a huge step that if it had gone wrong would have damaged the company beyond repair. BUT I am still alive to tell the tale and the system  was only decommissioned in 2008 after more than 15 years service!
